City of Lakes Winter Festival Awards

Awards Ceremonies

The Loppet Awards Ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 2 at The Trailhead. There will be door prizes, including entries for the Sitka Salmon Shares CityTrail Loppet in May, the Tri-Loppet and Du-Loppet in July, and grand prizes Loppet Challenge and Hoigaard’s Challenge entries.

NOTE: Some events will have awards ceremonies at the finish area podium directly after the event and will not be featured at Sunday’s Award Ceremony. Please read below for details on your event.

Awards Booth

All age-class award medals for the Classic/Skate Marathons and Puoli Loppets need to be picked up at the awards area in the ticket booth at the front of The Trailhead building – they will not be presented at the awards ceremonies.

Hours to pick up awards are Saturday, February 1 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm and on Sunday, February 3 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Awards will also be available for pick up after the event. Email in advance to arrange a time: info@loppet.org

Freewheel Fat Tire Sprint Relays

  • Locally crafted awards to the first three male & female sprint teams in the Open and Masters categories.
    • Cash Awards for Teams in the Open category:
      • 1st Place: $250
      • 2nd Place: $100
      • 3rd Place: $50
  • Awards ceremony for this event will take place at the finish line podium on Friday after the sprint finals. Must be present to receive cash awards.

Skate Ski Sprints

  • Locally crafted awards to the first three male & female skiers in the Open and Masters categories.

  • Commemorative medals for all finishers.

Classic Ski Puoli Loppet

  • Commemorative medals for all finishers.
  • Locally crafted awards to the first three male and female finishers.
  • Award medals for male & female 10-year age categories: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39 . . . 80+. (These may be picked up at the Awards Table as soon as results are posted.)

The Flower Ceremony for the first three male and female finishers will happen at the finish line podium immediately after the race. Top finishers should report to the podium within 5 minutes of finishing. Locally crafted awards will be given at Sunday’s Awards Ceremony at 2:00 pm.

Classic Ski Loppet

  • Commemorative medals for first-year finishers, commemorative pins for multiple-time finishers.
  • Locally crafted awards for first three male and female finishers.
  • Award medals for male and female 5-year age categories 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29 . . . 80+. (These may be picked up at the Awards Table as soon as results are posted.)

SW Journal Snow Sculpture Contest

  • Award medals to the top three teams.

Awards ceremony for the Loppet Challenge Top 3 Overall Male and Female Finishers will take place at the Loppet Awards Ceremony at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 3 at The Trailhead. Age Group Awards and Pint glasses may be picked up at the Awards Booth in the Trailhead building once the results are available.

Minne Tour

Sprints + Classic Marathon + Skate Marathon

  • $6,000 purse! Male & female skiers with the top cumulative times win cash:

National Skijoring Champions

Saturday 10k Race + Sunday Point-to-Point Race

  • Awards for the first three male and female teams.
  • 1st Place: $100 Cash, $100 Gift Card to Chuck & Don’s, Locally crafted awards
  • 2nd Place: $50 Cash, $50 Gift Card to Chuck & Don’s, Locally crafted awards

Awards ceremony for this championship will take place at the finish area following Sunday’s event. Must be present to receive cash awards.

Double-Loppet Award

City of Lakes Loppet + Mora Vasaloppet
Ski the City of Lakes Loppet and the Mora Vasaloppet in the same year and receive the “Double-Loppet” award. This participation pin goes to all skiers who complete a 25 kilometer or longer event at both the City of Lakes Loppet and the Mora Vasaloppet in the same year.

The Double-Loppet Award will be handed out at the Mora Vasaloppet.

Hoigaard’s Challenge

City of Lakes Loppet + Sitka Salmon Shares CityTrail Loppet + Tri-Loppet and Du-Loppet + Surly Brewing Co. Trail Loppet
The Hoigaard’s Challenge begins in the winter with the City of Lakes Loppet, continues in the spring with the Sitka Salmon Shares CityTrail Loppet, in the summer with the Tri-Loppet and Du-Loppet and finishes in the fall with the Surly Trail Loppet. Participants who compete in all four events receive commemorative pins and age class recognition at the annual Hoigaard’s Challenge Party.
