Restaurant Partner Announced for The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park
Minneapolis, MN – The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park will soon be home to a new kind of dining spot — Cajun Twist. Gumbo, red beans and rice, jambalaya, and more will be served up daily out of The Trailhead, a new facility coming to the park this summer. The new restaurant will also serve beer and wine, allowing for outdoor happy hours on the patio during the non-winter months.
“Having a permanent home for Cajun Twist is going to be a gamechanger. My team is thrilled for this opportunity to bring authentic New Orleans cuisine to North Minneapolis through this partnership.” said Teona Washington, founder and owner of Cajun Twist.
The Loppet Foundation and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) project managers chose from a list of remarkable proposals, and ultimately landed on Cajun Twist due to its unique menu offerings and potential to draw new audiences into The Trailhead and the park. The MPRB officially moved to approve the decision in early February.
“Having a place to gather and a restaurant at The Trailhead completes the experience, allowing friends to connect and spend time together while at the park. We are excited that Cajun Twist brings a unique menu and its own following of people to join in the community-building around Theodore Wirth Park.” said Bert Jackson, project manager for The Trailhead.
Through a partnership between the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and the Loppet Foundation, The Trailhead will serve as a year-round destination for outdoor adventurers from all walks of life. Learn more about the project at loppet.org/trailhead.
“The Trailhead will launch a new era of world-class outdoor recreation at Theodore Wirth Regional Park,” said MPRB Interim Superintendent Mary Merrill. “The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is fortunate to have a fantastic partner like the Loppet Foundation and thrilled to add Cajun Twist’s unique concept to the project.”
Barring any unforeseen construction hangups, The Trailhead and Cajun Twist are expected to open to the public by Summer 2018.
