Loppet Partnering on Conference Exploring Athletics and Education

In partnership with several other local non-profit organizations, the Loppet Foundation will be exploring the intersection of athletic and educational equity at a conference Thursday, April 21. The conference will be held at the University of Minnesota Recreation and Wellness Center, located at 123 SE Harvard St. in Minneapolis from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration and more information can be found at www.iaeeconference.splashthat.com

The conference will bring together researchers, program development and delivery professionals, and educators to explore the impact and significance of out-of-school time programs that intentionally combine education and athletic components as a tool to engage youth.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Jermaine M. Davis, who has taught leadership and academic success related courses across the country. Organizations and institutions like 3M, Best Buy, Cornell University, the University of Minnesota, and Wells Fargo regularly seek out Dr. Jermaine’s expertise in the areas of motivation, leadership, development, teamwork, and diversity and inclusion.

The conference is being presented by the Alliance for Athletics and Academic Success and the University of Minnesota. Partners include: Fred Wells Tennis & Education Center, Beyond Walls, The Sanneh Foundation, Girls on the Run, Bolder Options, the Loppet Foundation, Minneapolis Public Schools, University of Minnesota School of Kinesiology, Above the Rim Youth Sports Foundation, and The First Tee Twin Cities.
