Midwest Junior Championships Moved to March 8-9

Due to forecast cold weather, the weekend of events at Theodore Wirth Park originally scheduled for March 1-2 will now be scheduled for March 8-9. The National Weather Service is calling for cold temperatures this weekend – with lows between minus-7 and minus-10 each night, highs between zero and 4 degrees on Saturday and between 8 and 10 on Sunday. Events are scheduled to go all day Saturday and much of the day on Sunday. The only warming facility in the area is the Par-3 building, but that building cannot accommodate more than a few kids and our budget for this event does not allow for a heated tent.

Race officials apologize for any inconvenience placed upon potential racers. The spirit of the Midwest Junior Championships is intended to celebrate the end of a great season with warm March sunshine and fun racing, as well as encouraging skiing as long as there is snow on the ground. We feel that those intentions will be better served on March 8-9, when the forecast is predicted to be 20’s and 30’s with full sunshine, as well as having more than enough snow!

Updated Schedule

Please check the website (loppet.org) for an updated weekend schedule. Due to Daylight Savings, we have pushed Sunday’s race times later into the morning.
