The Why, When, and How of XC Ski Training- young skier and parent info sessions

Excited to get your kid into cross-country ski training? Or have they begun skiing and they are ready to take it to the next level? The City of Lakes Nordic Ski Foundation is offering two athlete development seminars for young athletes and their parents. Both winter and summer programming will be discussed.  Athletes and parents are welcome!

Basic Exercise Physiology for XC Skiing and Endurance Sport- Ages 9-13
Monday April 9th, 6:30pm, Theodore Wirth Park Chalet
Presented by the Nordic Ski Foundation in partnership with MYSL and Ski Werx

  • Presentors: Piotr Bednarski – Head Coach, Go! Training, Caroline Bramante- 2006 Olympian
  • Discussion will cover the basics of how the body adapts to training and long term development of the cross country skier.  The talk will be set up so that 10 year old can understand the basic principles.   We encourage parents to bring athletes with them!

    • what it takes to excel in XC skiing long term- the big picture

  • Presentors: Piotr Bednarski and Jacob Beste and 2010 Olympian Caitlin Compton
  • Discussion will cover the exercise physiology of XC skiing:

    • steps and windows of opportunity
    • what it takes to excel in XC skiing long term- the big picture
    • critical success factors and typical mistakes
    • long term planning and lactate profiles
    • long term success versus 3 sport athlete
