2017 Midwest Junior Championships Recap

2017 Midwest Junior Championships

Thanks to everyone who joined us this past weekend at Theodore Wirth Park for the 2017 Midwest Junior Championships. In preparation for Sunday’s meltdown, the event was condensed from its normal Friday – Sunday schedule, into an evening of Age Gap Relays on Friday and a fun-packed day of classic and skate skiing on Saturday.

The festival took place on a 1.3-kilometer loop that the Loppet Trail crew made in the Upper Stadium — which held up beautifully all weekend!

Over 200 skiers between the ages of six- and fifteen-years-old, from all across the midwest, competed in Age Gap Relays, Classic Individual Start races, the Sit-Ski race, Classic Tandem Sprint Relays, SkiCross Time Trials, Fish Scale Frenzy event, Freestyle Mass Start race, and the 4-Person Mixed Relays. The Individual races were the final events the CXC Youth Cup races series. The current results and standings for the CXC Youth Cup can be found here.

The weekend was packed with competition and fun! A huge thanks goes out to the volunteers and a whole crew of supportive parents and coaches who cheered on their skiers.

Full results and photos here. Hope to see you next year!
