Bring on the Spring!

I don’t about you, but with the pathetic winter, and sunny skies and warm air headed our way, I’m ready to put away the skis and bring out the bike! I cleaned off my road bike yesterday and with the dry forecast, maybe those mountain bike trails will open up soon enough.
An interesting turn of events in Minneapolis has captured the attention of our office, as well as many enthusiastic urban cyclists: Gary Sjoquist is heading up the first Minnesota State High School Cycling League, run through the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. It will be a fall sport and have 4 weekends of mountain bike racing, beginning with technically easier trails and moving into more difficult terrain as the season progresses. More information at http://www.minnesotamtb.org. Teams will be formed by May, but there’s talk of making a North Minneapolis team, with a combination of local high schools, based out of Theodore Wirth. Check back for updates-I’ll post summer group ride opportunities.
All to say, the season is coming up, so come on by Wirth and cruise the trails with us!
