2018 Loppet Duathlon Recap

Participants in the Loppet Duathlon were greeted with clear skies, warm temps, and plenty of slushy snow Thursday night for this inaugural race. A last hurrah for the winter season, the Loppet Duathlon took place on the snowmaking loop at Wirth Park. Combining two laps of freestyle skiing with two laps of fat tire biking, the 12K race crowd was a fairly even mix of individuals and relay teams.
Joel LaFrance, Jon Toftoy, Corey Towle took top three in the overall individual category taking home commemorative medals. Piotr Bednarski and Kevin Ishaug, Jason Napp and Rob Duggan, and Dennis Curran and Josh Johnson came in as the top three relay teams. See full race results here.
The evening was rounded out with brats, plenty of cheer, and a last hurrah for winter as Loppet trails will no longer be groomed this season. Trails and Rec crews will go out tomorrow for a final grooming of snowmaking trails, and then next up is mountain biking season.
Thanks for a great winter season. See you at the City Trails Loppet!
