Midwest Junior Championships Ready for Action!

The Midwest Junior Championships & Festival event organizers are optimistic for the revival of winter at Theodore Wirth Park for one more weekend of competitive and festival events on March 3-5, 2017 for skiers ages 15 & under. The Loppet Foundation pulled off a successful Mayor’s Challenge/JNQ event this past weekend, despite temperatures in the 60’s. The course is currently closed, which should preserve the snow base that resides on the Hap Snowmaking Loop. We should know more after the next couple days of predicted snow. The trail crew have plans to blow more man-made snow onto as much of the course as possible. So stay tuned for specific updates on the course, but we look forward to meeting Old Man Winter for one last hurrah!

The Midwest Junior Championships are the last stop of the Skiwerx Series and CXC Youth Cup. Hundreds of skiers from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan are expected to attend. Events include Friday night Age Gap Relays; Classic Individual Races, Classic Tandem Sprint Relays, Sit-Ski race and Festival events take place on Saturday; and finally, Sunday includes a Freestyle Mass Start race, Freestyle Mixed Relays and SkiCross Time Trials. Spectators and volunteers are encouraged! Please see here for volunteer opportunities.

Register today! Registration closes Tuesday, February 28 at midnight. There is no day-of registration. Note that with registration of both the Classic Individual Race and Classic Tandem Sprint Relays on Saturday, entry to the Festival events is free.
