LNR Juniors — Updates to 2018 Summer Training and Camps

Loppet Nordic Racing (LNR) has reorganized our summer training programs. For Year of Birth (YOB) 2002-2005, we have a three-day and five-session option during the summer — this is our new development team.

We have changed our training options because we want to make sure we have the appropriate type of training for each age group.

Development Team (Devo)

This is a new LNR group focused on YOB 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. Some or many of the Devo practices will be combined with Comp Team, but the Devo Team will have a dedicated coach/practice plan. Training for this group will be more varied than the Comp Team, and often less ski-specific.

For Summer Training, the Devo Team will have the option to train three sessions per week or six sessions per week (see schedule).

Competition Team (Comp)

The LNR Comp Team —for 16 to 19 year-olds (primarily YOB 2001, 2000, 1999)— will continue to be quite focused on year-round training with the goal of completing regionally and nationally. This is an experienced ski group committed to year-round training. Some of the changes that we have been working toward are:

  1. To keep training varied, challenging, and having the opportunity to explore new places.
  2. To make sure training in spring and summer is focused on making you a better all-around athlete: coordination, speed, and running/movement mechanics.
  3. To make sure that the environment at LNR is one that stresses being a good person, not just a good athlete. We will focus on working well as part of a group, and we’ll have a number of volunteer projects throughout the year.

Summer Training Schedule

Development Team starts June 18, does not run weeks of training camps, and has a lighter schedule during 4th of July week. Three-day (you pick the days!) and full program (five sessions) options are available.

  • Mondays: 7:00 am at Hyland Park, roller-ski
  • Tuesdays: 4:30 pm at Wirth Park, bike or strength
  • Wednesdays: 7:00 am at Wirth Park, roller-ski or foot
  • Thursdays: 4:30 pm at Wirth Park, foot and strength
  • Fridays: 7:00 am at Hyland Park, bounding and foot
  • Weekend: occasional special workouts

  • Mondays: 7:00 am at Hyland Park, roller-ski
  • Tuesdays: 7:00 am at Town of Afton, roller-ski intensity (occasionally will meet near French Park)
  • Tuesdays: 4:30 pm Wirth Park, strength
  • Wednesdays: 7:00 am at Wirth Park, roller-ski or foot
  • Thursdays: 8:00 am at Wirth Park, various (on low volume we will NOT meet)
  • Thursdays: 4:30 pm at Wirth Park, foot and strength
  • Fridays: 7:00 am at Hyland Park, bounding and foot
  • Weekend: occasional special workouts

LNR Training Camp Schedule (Out of Town)

Registration is now open for LNR Junior Training Camps. Athletes must be enrolled in Summer LNR (Comp or Devo) in order to attend camps.
