2018 City Trails Loppet Recap

Despite the weather report trying to scare us earlier in the week, racers in the 2018 City Trails Loppet were blessed with cool temps and clear skies in the morning – making for near perfect running conditions Sunday morning. Nearly 800 runners lined up at the start in downtown Robbinsdale for their 10k and 10-mile adventures!

The City Trails Loppet courses crossed meadows, wooded trails, paved paths, bridges, railroad tracks and wooden stairs – all elements that make it one of our most fun and challenging running races. Racers in the 10-mile and 10K races converged ahead of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden for a grand finish next to the Spoonbridge & Cherry – a new and improved finish line for this year’s race festivities.

Leading up the packs – Joel Lafrance and Christina Roberts took the top men’s and women’s places in the 10K race, with Brian Gregg and Laura Mead taking the lead in the 10-mile race. By the time racers began crossing the finish line around 10:30 am, the day warmed up to a sunny 70+ degrees.

Finishers and volunteers enjoyed cold Surly brews, delicious banh mi sandwiches from Lu’s sandwiches, and impeccably perfect weather. Thanks to all who came out to celebrate the spring season with us – see you at the UCare Tri-Loppet!
