Girls Week Checks All The Boxes

One of the things you learn as Adventure Camp Director is that every week is like a snowflake. Each is different but all are valuable. Girls Week, however, is a highlight that comes around once per summer. Imagine this: 70 girls, 15 counselors, and not 4 boys on camp for a whole week of camaraderie and friendly competition. And Girls Week 2016 really had it all.
First time rollerskiers making it up the Glenwood hill? Check.
Trips to the mythical Pump Track and Mary Hills? Check.
Canoe tipping? Check.
All-camp oboshinotentoten? Check.
A talent show and hilarious skits? Check. Check.
A visit from water-bottle-and-ice-cream-bearing Bike Cops for Kids? Check.
Old faces and new? Check and check.
We had young women from all over Minneapolis and St. Paul, playing and learning together. Longtime counselors joined forces with new leaders to create a week that was completely unique and one that will stick around in this Camp Director’s mind for a long time.
Looking forward: we already are down to two weeks of Adventure Camp left! We are feeling fresh coming into the home stretch and we expect to finish strong!
